About Founder

Built for real groups. Not ideal ones.

My name is Marina, I am the founder of CrewTask. I live in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. My husband and I have two children, navigating family life just the two of us - no nannies, no grandparents nearby. The closest relative is in another country and a different time zone. But with a huge supply of good advice in the messenger.

By profession, I am an engineer and analyst. This means roughly the following: looking at chaos and not trying to comprehend it is physically impossible for me. Chaos will be comprehended. Chaos will be categorized. Chaos will be defeated. Then the kids will come, and it'll all start over.

A typical day looks like this: remote work with not the most convenient schedule, schools and after-school activities, grocery shopping and cooking, planning a week ahead and simultaneously for the next hour. Plus bills, doctors, everyday chores - and a significant part of all this is in Spanish, which I am, of course, diligently (not really) learning. But my proficiency level leaves much to be desired. 😏

All this lives in chats, voice messages, notes, shopping lists and, ultimately, in the head. And even with the best intentions of all participants, against this background, the classic "I didn't know" and "we agreed differently" regularly pop up.

This is exactly where CrewTask grew from. Not from a beautiful idea on a napkin, but from a concrete feeling: the tools that exist are designed for a different person. For an individual adult with an office schedule and tasks that have a beginning, an end, and one responsible person.

Family life is structured differently. I live with the same constraints as most CrewTask users. Therefore, I run any decision in the product through a simple question: does this make life clearer and calmer - or does it just look pretty in a screenshot? The difference is usually obvious.
